We’re a boutique backpackers’ hostel in the heart of old KL, surrounded by charming colonial-era shophouses and located in the city centre’s Heritage District.
Kindness of Strangers is a hospitality company built around the notion of offering kindness to people we don’t know, especially if they’re miles away from home. We believe that kindness is a language that can be universally shared.
We also believe that luxury should not be measured by expensive fittings, linen thread count, or a hotel’s star rating. Instead, it should be measured by time you have; how much kindness you receive; and the experiences you gain along the way.
In 2009, we dipped out toes in the world of hospitality by refurbishing a row of crumbling pre-war high-street shops into a modern, light-filled backpackers hostel, BackHome Hostel. We then cooked up LOKL Coffee, a brunch destination for the travellers exploring our historic neighbourhood. In 2019, we established KLoé, a boutique hotel dedicated to KL’s creative community.
We occupy buildings with character.
We are sensitive to our environment and heritage.
We celebrate our city’s culture and creative community.
We do our best to uplift our neighbours.
